Hi there! Between work, raising two young kiddo’s and making time for hobbies away from a screen, there’s not a lot to see here at the moment. I’m making the time as I can to share some of the cool projects and ideas I’ve been working on.

2024 Solar Eclipse

I was lucky enough to catch this years total solar eclipse in the path of totality. I did my best to capture some data durning the event with the limited equipment that I had on hand, but I still think it turned out great. You can see in the graph there are no more data points after totality (C3). It was so much cooler than I could have imagined, I had completly forgotten about taking down anymore data after totality and I’m glad I did. I noted down the temperature as recorded by my phones external temperature sensor, and the sky brightness measurement from my diy SQM (Sky Quality Meter). It was really neat to see how quickly the temperature actually dropped once the moon had crossed over more than half of the sun. In less than 20 minutes it fell more than 10 degrees, that kind of temperature swing would have made me run for a tornado shelter on any other day!
